This is a letter of appreciation and gratitude to our wonderful HB Williams Memorial Library and the staff who work there. I’ve lived in Gisborne on and off for 14 years and have averaged a visit to the library at least once every three weeks — so approximately 156 visits. It is a calm, bright, invigorating and airy space. My kids check out four to eight books every visit, and while there are some favourites that are repeatedly checked out, they’re always able to find something new and engaging — which is impressive since they primarily read graphic novels. The What’s New shelf has opened my reading exposure to authors from around the world. The HB Williams Memorial Library is a significant part of what I enjoy about living in Gisborne. Arohanui.
