Opinion

I am aghast at the prospect of a Buddhist monument adorning Kaiti Hill. Poverty Bay has a priceless Christian heritage which, sadly, has been forgotten. I therefore call upon Māori to look back to their forebears who embraced the Christian gospel in their thousands, largely through God blessing the ministry of William Williams. A Buddhist monument could be regarded as an insult to his memory.
