Two ships berthed at Eastland Port started filling up with logs and squash today with the arrival of Solent Star and Kaiti Hill.

The Solent Star came from Lyttelton and is loading squash. It is expected to leave for Napier to load further cargo on Monday.

Bulk lumber carrier Kaiti Hill has come from Napier and will head to Marsden Point to load more logs tomorrow. Kaiti Hill is a regular visitor here.

She made her first trip to her home away from home in April 2010. Dry bulk shipping company Pacific Basin bought Kaiti Hill in February 2010 and renamed her after Kaiti Hill as a reflection of the company’s strong relationship with this district.

Two other log ships are waiting out in Turanganui-a-Kiwa/Poverty Bay for space at the wharf to load. Also today, the boutique cruise ship Seabourn Encore, which carries about 600 passengers, anchored in the bay while passengers took tenders into the marina to enjoy the city and some of the tourism attractions on offer here.
