Opinion
All political parties claim to want a better future, and higher incomes, for NZers but I’m happy to support the one that has put our tax money to good use on our behalf.
I firmly believe that education is the key to better jobs and we have a Govt whichremoved many of the barriers previously faced for learning.
They got rid of school fees, gave school lunches and period products, employed counsellors and funded remedial learning. Many more teacher aids have been employed.
They are training apprentices and have vocational training so our youth will have lifelong skills and so more houses can be built for families.
There are more places for medical students and they can apply for voluntary bonding and have their student loans repaid up to $30k in three years. It takes years to train them but many are in the training cycle, including some at our own hospital.
Money is going into the gaming industry and research and development of new industries. Many of our best and brightest will be able to stay in Aotearoa instead of seeking their IT dreams overseas. New industries and opportunities should also develop.
These are all opportunities out of poverty and will build a better country.
We do need to import some talent from overseas to fill the gaps which were left in many areas, but overall, our Labour-Greens Govt is more attuned to New Zealand’s future needs.
