Emergency services responded to two vehicle crashes on the East Coast at the weekend, resulting in three people being flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.
In the first crash, mid-afternoon on Saturday, a car rolled on State Highway 35 near Ruatoria.
“Two women in the vehicle — one aged in
her 20s, the other in her 40s — sustained moderate to serious injuries,” a St John ambulance spokesman said.
“Rescue helicopters from Tauranga and Rotorua were called in and the women were flown to Gisborne Hospital.”
The second crash was also in the Ruatoria area and happened on Sunday morning.
