I note with interest that the speed restriction signs, that were never legally compliant, have been removed on Wharekopae Road. Should we assume that the huge potholes that remain on the road are no longer dangerous enough to warrant restrictions, or could it be that the maintenance money has run out and the council has decided to abrogate its responsibilities?
I also note the person who seems to have a job scribbling around the edges of the potholes is still employed, but the questionable artwork does not seem to evoke any corrective action. I wonder if anyone else has noticed.

Footnote from Ed: Gisborne District Council has advised that the temporary speed-restriction signs are compliant under an approved temporary traffic management plan, the council has not instructed anyone to remove the signs, and there has been no instruction to stop work on the site.
