Transport Rebuild East Coast (TREC) is in the process of developing a hub for its planned roading and bridging improvements works on the East Coast. A complex is being established on land adjacent to Awapuni Road, alongside the railway station.
The TREC alliance, which was set up last year, bringstogether NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, KiwiRail, Downer, Fulton Hogan and Higgins civil construction for planning, organising and delivering much of the recovery and rebuild work needed. TREC work also includes the ongoing maintenance and operations of the state highway network in Tairāwhiti and Hawke’s Bay.
