Opinion

I’m writing to thank Pastors Guthrie and Jennifer Boyd from the AOG church for organising a vigil for the Israeli hostages on Saturday at Endeavour Park. Blown up photos were on boards that we held, and it was very moving looking at the names and ages of the eight people — children, men and women — on each individual board.
Christians owe a tremendous debt to Israel. The Bible is geographically set in Israel, its history is Israel, and the patriarchs, prophets, apostles and Messiah Jesus are all Jewish.
As followers of Christ, we are called to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
“For Zion’s sake I will not be silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet until her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.” (Isaiah 62)
