I guess that the jury must remain “out”, to consider the latest claims that Israel has blown up a hospital in Gaza.

There are many factors to consider in this matter before we can give too much credence to the Palestinian claims, although there is no dispute that the hospital site was hit by a deadly blast.

The Israelis claim that the hospital courtyard was hit by an Islamic Jihad rocket fired at Israel that fell short. It could be that Hamas or Islamic Jihad actually targeted the hospital, to cause condemnation of Israel and possibly draw other Islamic countries into the war, on their side.

We do know that they are known to have previously fired their rockets at Israel from “safe sites” such as schools, thus endangering the local people, so is it possible that Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters are known to Israel to be basing their resources at schools and even hospitals.

Even though Palestinian politicians are saying that Hamas does not represent the Palestinians, we note that rockets are still being fired from Gaza even now.

If Hamas in fact does not represent Gaza Palestinians, they were and are prepared to hide behind them, as they must have known of the hell they would cause to rain down upon the Gazans as a result of their terrorist-style attack on Israel.

So, yes, the jury does remain out.
