Oh, how I do love the extravagant, hyperbolic claims of some of our perennial writers to the editor!
“Our economy is in ruins . . .” and “. . . thanks to our luckless attempts to save ourselves from a common cold” — the last comment blatantly untrue.
So screamed one of the letter respondents, referring to New Zealand’s efforts to avoid the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Well, I can still get milk at the dairy, visit the big M, and write letters to the editor . . .
and I can’t see any rubble from where I sit.
I also had a touch of Covid, but had kept up to date with all the appropriate vaccinations, so it was a short-lived illness with thankfully no ongoing effects.
I am grateful to be living in New Zealand, and perceive its shortcomings to be minor when compared to countries elsewhere. As the song says
. . . Don’t Worry — Be Happy!
