Opinion
GISBORNE Volunteer Centre would like to thank our Mayor, Meng Foon, for hosting a Morning Tea with the Mayor for Volunteers on Monday to get National Volunteer Week under way.
Volunteers from a variety of organisations gathered together in recognition of their volunteer contribution to the community. Thank you Meng
for being a great host and supporting this event.
The focus of National Volunteer Week is “time”; thanking volunteers for giving their time and encouraging others to make time to volunteer. We would like to acknowledge the fantastic contribution of all the volunteers in our community. We also encourage people to consider making the time to volunteer, it could be as little as 10 minutes a day to phone someone who is socially isolated or it could be a couple of hours a month taking the minutes for an organisation’s meeting. The choices are wide and varied, and your commitment would be greatly valued.
Thank you Meng for supporting volunteering in our community and thank you to all of our great volunteers.
