A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

The Orange Rain Warning for the area north of Tolaga Bay was lifted late yesterday afternoon, but MetService is still warning of strong to gale-force winds for the region.

During yesterday some 40 to 50 millimetres of rain fell in the deep valleys at the top of East Cape, but much less elsewhere.

Yesterday’s blustery north-east winds were expected to turn west to north-west today and MetService was warning the wind could approach severe gale force in exposed places from Saturday afternoon onwards. — RH
