Re: Intrusion.
Around 16,500 households took part in the 2023 post-enumeration survey. It was a follow-up to the last Census and is a standard procedure to measure the completeness of the count.
It appears that your correspondent on 23rd January was one of these chosen households and describes the process as “horrendous and traumatic”. She claims it was an intrusion on her privacy by a government agency and that her human rights were “violated”. The correspondent suggests that she was targeted because of her hostile views on the previous government.
She asks to hear from people with a similar experience. Information and an explanation of the survey can be found on Stats NZ website.
