A man was flown to Waikato Hospital with serious injuries on Friday after the car he was driving came into collision with the side of a truck on State Highway 2
It happened at the Riverpoint Road corner with SH 2 south at Matawhero.
The crash happened at around 12.50pm,
and drew a response from all the emergency services — Police, Fire and Emergency NZ and St John ambulance.
“A man in his 40s suffered multiple fractures in the crash,” an emergency services spokesman said.
He was transported by St John ambulance to Gisborne Hospital’s Emergency Department.
