A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

The Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter was dispatched five times in the week to Sunday night, including to a crash in Waioeka Gorge (see story above).

Other incidents the Gisborne helicopter was called to during the week started at 4pm on January 10 when the team responded to a trauma in Wairoa. The patient was flown in stable condition to Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

At 6.30pm the following day, the team responded to a medical event in Ruatōria, flying the patient in stable condition to Gisborne Hospital.

At 5pm on January 14 they were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at Waihau Bay from where the patient was flown in stable condition to Gisborne Hospital.

Then at 3.17am on Monday, just three hours after their return from the Waioeka Gorge mission, the team were dispatched to Tikitiki for a medical event.
