There are 57 active cases of Covid-19 in Tairāwhiti, according to the latest official figures.
Health NZ figures up to midnight on Sunday state there have been 26,629 cases of Covid and 43 deaths in Tairāwhiti since the pandemic broke out in New Zealand in late February 2020.
There were 36 deaths attributed to Covid across the country in the week ending on Sunday.
Those deaths comprised two from Northland, 10 from Auckland, three from Waikato, two from Tauranga, two were from Hawke’s Bay, two from Taranaki, one from Palmerston North, one from Whanganui, two from Wellington, one from Nelson-Marlborough, two from Canterbury and were from Otago-Southland.
One was under 10 years old, one was in their 40s, one was in their 60s, seven were in their 70s, 16 were in their 80s and ten were aged over 90. Of these people, 20 were women and 16 were men.
