It sounds like we actually have a Government which is “tough on crime”. Labour plans to increase our police force by another 300 police. We already have 1800 more police than we did six years ago in 2017 and they’re better paid.
The extra police have been able to plan and execute raids on gangs with over 50,000 arrests and over 500 firearms seized and taken off the streets. This has happened all over the country.
These raids will be making it harder for gangs to have the resources they need to commit the crimes they’re known for.
In addition, there are programmes to help gang members with the addictions and needs which cause them to commit crimes.
These are good results which couldn’t have happened without extra police and especially the back office police. Those on the front line will concentrate more on the here and now.
