Registrations are rolling in for the Wairoa Christmas Parade being held on Saturday, December 9.

The theme of the fun and festive afternoon is “Everyone Santa”. The whole town is encouraged to demonstrate the spirit of Christmas by dressing up as  their own version of Santa and Mrs Claus.

The event will feature the main street float parade, starting at 2pm, followed by a prizegiving and family concert at the lighthouse which will also feature a bouncy castle and stalls.

A sausage sizzle will  also be held with all koha going to St John Ambulance. Wairoa District Council and Rural New Zealand Women will match the funds raised.

Organisers are pleased with registrations so far and encourage people to join in the fun.

Wairoa Mayor Craig Little said the parade would be a fun-filled day for whānau and the chance to kick back and enjoy a festive community event.

“I encourage as many people as possible to take part in the parade and support the event.”

For those who enter floats, prizes are up for grabs for best commercial, education provider and community organisation, as well as best costume age group prizes for boys and girls.
