In case readers missed it, a
group of Earth Commission scientists tell us the Earth has pushed past seven out of eight scientifically established safety limits into “the danger zone”, and that the Earth is “really quite sick right now”.
Their study was published in the journal Nature last week and has been reported widely since.
They say the planet can recover if we make changes, including to our use of coal, oil and natural gas, and the way we treat the land and water.
About two-thirds of the Earth doesn’t meet the criteria for freshwater safety.
Again, I remind readers it is urgent that we change the way we use fossil fuel and treat our planet right now.
