Re: Company seeks consent to establish truck depot at Matawhero, July 20 story. So AF Thompson trucking at Makaraka has a “shabby compliance record”.
As this firm and another are responsible for their machinery spreading muck throughout Makaraka, could residents be told exactly how the firm is not complying and
what is going to be done about it?
Mere mortal residents usually have bureaucrats breathing fire and brimstone at the slightest hint of any infringement — yet the enforcers seem to look the other way when it comes to the commercial sector.
Aside from this, I take it Makaraka is not going to be given any sort of makeover for the sestercentennial, despite it being the gateway to Gisborne.
It is not the first time I have called for the council to pay a little attention to Makaraka.
