To sell or not to sell Tauwhareparae farms? We need to know facts. How was the land acquired and for what reason? And what the income should be compared with for similar land in the vicinity. If not the same or better, why not? Can reinvesting the money be guaranteed to return better and be as secure? Who will be accountable?
The GHL board says what it has done in the past is not right. Are we expected to believe what they will do now will be right?
The board “believes” they can maximise opportunities ahead. Do they have a crystal ball? Can they prove that a different investment would be better than the present and be able to withstand the coming depression?
The land which is ours will always be there, through ups and downs. The money raised from a sale will benefit a few pet projects instead of reducing the rates bill for all ratepayers.
To suggest the board might be aligned with Eastland Group is scary. They will use the money raised to pay their outrageous salaries and build a bigger empire.
