A person doing spadework in the garden accidentally severed a gas line to a house in Oman Street behind Kaiti School early on Sunday afternoon.
Fire and Emergency NZ responded at around midday that day.
“A resident had been digging in the garden outside the house when it happened,” a senior firefighter said.
“We stood by to keep the scene safe until gas company staff arrived to make the necessary repairs.”
No one on the property was affected by the gas, he said.
