Peter Wooding’s analysis (November 30 letter) shows what his occupation was in Birmingham, UK — a mechanical engineer. Peter is a clever thinker and we must give serious consideration to what he suggests.
Dealing with the woody debris is not an easy task, as Rehette Stoltz and others at GDC have told me.
My suggestion for the debris out on our beaches follows from Guy Fawkes on November 5, when we burned the slash and debris in stacks on the beach.
Debris fires undisputedly work, from past experience — you just need to choose a day when the wind blows away from land. (Likewise, southerlies and onshore winds push the rubbish back on to the beaches.)
Burning the woody debris will also cut costs for the ratepayer and taxpayer.
