They say, “All’s fair in love and war” yet the political advertisemt placed in the NZ Herald (4/9/23) by NZCTU seems to have raised a few eyebrows.
Given the current electoral climate, I cannot see the ad as inherently unfair.
I do wonder however if the photograph of Christopher Luxon was specifically chosen for its remarkable likeness to Lex Luthor, the DC Comics’ movies anti-hero and villain. Of course, making that visiual comparison would have still been borderline acceptable, but I am glad that the NZCTU declined to make the comparison — a small show of sportsmanship, perhaps?
