The cruise ship season ended on a high in Gisborne yesterday with a successful visit by the giant-sized Noordam. The ship went to anchor in the Bay at around 9am after arrival from Tauranga, and sailed for Napier at 6pm last night.
“The swell conditions in the Bay dropped right
away from Sunday and the captain was happy to call here,” a ships’ agent spokesman said.
“Around 1000 of the 1861 passengers on board came ashore for the various excursions, including two trips on Wa165, cycle tours and town and country visits. Others just went shopping and sightseeing in the city. It was a terrific way to end the cruise season here.”
