I am disturbed and saddened by the continuation of money wasting by our local council.
Efforts to install traffic calming measures do not seem to take account of the road use by emergency vehicles. The installation of raised pedestrian crossings seems to be very short-sighted. Slowing a fire truck or ambulance is not a short-term effect — they are heavy vehicles that take a lot of slowing and getting going again. The time it takes to do this on the way to an emergency may be the difference between saving a life or building, or not.
Why can’t our council display better leadership by fixing the roads? Potholes are damaging all vehicles — the crossing jumps will likely add to this, with damage that will only be picked up at WoF time.
