Te Whatu Ora is reporting two more Covid-19 deaths in Tairāwhiti.

During the week ending midnight on Sunday, Te Whatu Ora reported 33 deaths across New Zealand, including two in Tairāwhiti.

That does not necessarily mean all 33 deaths occurred during that week.

At midnight on Sunday there were 43 active cases in the region, meaning there have been 25,220 cases recorded in Tairāwhiti since the pandemic began.

New Zealand has recorded 3309 deaths, a total of 2,461,239 cases while there are currently 3444 active cases including 221 people in hospital and six in ICU.

Of the other 31 deaths reported in the week to Sunday, two were from Northland, nine from Auckland, three from Waikato, one from Bay of Plenty, one was Lakes (Rotorua), two from Hawke’s Bay, two from Taranaki, two from Wellington region, two from Nelson-Marlborough, four were from Canterbury, one was from South Canterbury and were from Southern (Otago-Suhland).

Two were in their 40s, one was in their 50s, four were in their 60s, eight were in their 70s, ten were in their 80s and eight were aged over 90.

Of these people, 13 were women and 20 were men.
