The occupants of a car that left State Highway 35 north of Glenroy Road early Sunday morning had to climb out a window after their vehicle ended up on its roof in a shallow ditch.
Emergency services were called to the crash at around 4am.
“They were out of their small hatchback vehicle by the time we arrived,” an emergency services spokesman said.
“Both of them, aged in their 20s, were taken by St John ambulance to Gisborne Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.”
