Call-out to deal with fire on stove

Firefighters were called to a house in Ida Road late yesterday morning in response to a call about an overheated pot of food on the stove which had caught alight.

But it was well contained by the resident.

The call came in at around 11.30am.

“It caused only minimal damage,” a senior firefighter said.

“The resident had contained the situation well, and the small fire was out by the time we arrived.

“We ventilated the house to remove the smoke that had built up.”
