Call is for moderation . . .

It is not my practice to reply to individual letter writers, no matter how they irritate.

However, I feel I must in the case of one Peter Jones, who believes others should “stand up to people like Roger”.

Mr Jones says he feels the need to comment because  “no one else seems to have the confidence to call (people like Roger) out”.

It sounds like I am being described as a bully who needs some kind of confrontational response.

I have threatened no one. I do not believe in censorship — I am on record as having called for moderation.

To other letter writers — the words of Voltaire were in fact those of his biographer.
