Busy weekend for Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter

The meaning of providing 24/7 service, 365 days a year came into play when the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter rounded out the weekend with two missions, both under cover of darkness. For the first, at 1.30am on Sunday morning, the team responded to a trauma at Te Kaha with the patient flown in a stable condition to Tauranga Hospital. Then at 1am on Monday morning the crew again took to the air, this time answering a call to a medical event in Wairoa, from where the patient was flown in a stable condition to Hawke’s Bay Hospital. In both cases St John ambulance were on scene to assist.
