Opinion

I had the privilege of watching the Sunday matinee of Jersey Boys, and WOW! I got a last-minute ticket jumping in with friends, as I am not from Gisborne and only here for a week. To say I was absolutely blown away by the talent is an understatement.

Most surprising of all was to find out the director Danielle Siata was a first-time local director. The transitions, the story, the costuming, the lighting, how every last detail was thoroughly thought out was that of what I thought could only come from an out-of-town professional.

I’ve seen Jersey Boys before in Auckland and this was easily on par if not better. The four lead males were outstanding, with special mention to Tahi as Frankie Valli who pulled off an incredible falsetto and had an old man like me left in tears.

Congratulations to all, I hope the Gisborne community supports you as this is a show not to be missed.
