Ulysses Motorcycle Club of NZ Inc will be in Gisborne next month as part of a new nationwide initiative — a countrywide Baton Relay — to raise money for victims of Cyclone Gabrielle.
From November 5 to 19, hundreds of bikers will travel the length and breadth of the country, visiting towns and cities from Invercargill to the Far North, before returning to Rotorua. Their mission is to bring some financial relief to those hardest hit by the cyclone.
Riders will arrive in Gisborne on Leg 21, arriving in the afternoon on Thursday, November 16.
Their first stop will be Smash Palace approx 4pm and then on Friday, November 17, the ride will be meeting for a Stands Up display at the Makaraka Showgrounds from 10.30am.
Ulysses is a worldwide club for older motorcyclists and is one of the largest organisations of its kind in New Zealand. National organiser Leigh-Ann Crane, herself the coordinator of the Rotorua branch of Ulysses, and owner of OTBT, a motorbike/car passport to support local businesses throughout New Zealand, says the sky’s the limit.
