Opinion
I have just heard some great news. The US state of Maine has voted in favour of euthanasia — brilliant. Being a kind-hearted person and fan of your favourite columnist Martin Hanson, I thought this would be right up his street. As we all know he struggles to get his
way in God’s Own, so I’ve come up with a scheme to help him out.
At great personal inconvenience I decided to find out how to launch one of those crowd-funding thingies. I know, I’m all heart. Anyway, eventually I got the hang of it and my efforts were published online. That was 24 hours ago. Imagine my surprise when I checked out how things were going and found out $3.7 million had already been pledged to fund Mr Hanson’s relocation to the Great State of Maine, much of it from Gisborne Herald readers.
There is one proviso to this once-in-a-life-time offer, though: Mr Hanson must promise not to bother us with any more of his progressive, left wing, liberal, academic columns. Not too much to ask I’d say.
