The Waingake water supply for Gisborne city was reinstated yesterday and the city was again being supplied from both Waipaoa and Waingake treatment plants.
An update from the council’s water team early yesterday afternoon indicated contractors had repaired a valve on the Waingake water supply line by the Makaraka Pump Station.
The Waingake water supply was temporarily interrupted because of the repair.
The repair work was completed yesterday morning and the council planned to have the blended supply, from Waingake and the treatment plant resumed to the city about midday yesterday.
“If you have noticed a change in the colour of the water, be assured the water is safe to drink and adheres to New Zealand drinking water standards,” the council said.
