A MAN was arrested last night after he allegedly shattered windows on the Gladstone Road side of the Gisborne Police station, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage.
Police said the man, who is well known to them, had been spoken to earlier in the evening, and then given a
meal.
“He returned later in the evening, picked up a nearby road sign and allegedly broke five ground floor windows in the station,” a police spokesman said.
The man, aged 36, was arrested shortly afterwards and was to appear in the Gisborne District Court today charged with wilful damage.
“Bail will be opposed.
