I write regarding Principal Peter Ferris and the headline “Warrior, leader, role model”. He certainly is to me.

What a great tribute for an educational hero who has done so much for so many.

Twenty years ago he was one of the few stalwarts who stood up for the establishment of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Nga Uri a Maui by allowing it to reside on a portion of his school's grounds as it searched for a home.

Most people do not know of Peter's role in Kura Kaupapa Maori being established locally. He was a rock.

Thank you Peter and your Board of Trustees, who came through for our kura in its time of need.
