“It was a whole new experience for them, and really entertaining,” she said.
The 45-minute act showcased circus skills such as juggling plates on sticks, unicycle tricks and fire poi (not real fire). Teachers and students were encouraged to get involved on stage.
Woodvine was described as being full of energy, keeping some 220 kids engaged with his show.
Workshops followed throughout the day where different age groups of students were able to have a go at learning circus skills. Mrs Savage said it was all about stepping outside their comfort zone and trying things they hadn’t before.
“I didn’t see any kids giving up — they were really pushing themselves,” she said.
They learned skills like coordination and interaction while having fun. There was lots of laughter, with everyone joining in.
“It was a really amazing and entertaining day,” Mrs Savage said.
