68 Covid cases active in Tairāwhiti

There are currently 68 active cases of Covid-19 in Tairāwhiti, according to Te Whatu Ora figures last updated at 2pm yesterday.

No deaths have been recorded in Tairāwhiti for a month and the number of cases total 25,131.

Across the country 26 deaths were recorded in the past week, bringing the country’s total number of deaths to 3283.

The total number of cases since Covid-19 broke out in New Zealand in February 2020 is 2,454,300.

Of the 26 people whose deaths were reported over the week, two were from Northland, 12 from Auckland, five from Waikato, one from Hawke’s Bay, one from MidCentral, one from Wellington, two from Nelson-Marlborough and two were from Canterbury.

One was in their 50s, three were in their 60s, nine were in their 70s, eight were in their 80s and five were aged over 90.

Of these people, 13 were women and 13 were men.
