Visual Arts
■ Dreamers - Louise Walsh and Jolene Douglas
The exhibition opening will be held at 5.30pm tomorrow (August 4) at the Tairāwhiti Museum. Walsh’s work stems from her first piece, The Beginning, its simple lines and colours creating an overall pattern and base for other works. In my Wilderness We live in Mansions is a series of pastels by Douglas created for the exhibition Dreamers — a collection of dreamscapes — mystical, magical, botanical. The exhibition finishes on October 1.
■ Wearable Art by Susan Holmes
The exhibition opening will be held at 5.30pm on Friday, August 25, at Tairāwhiti Museum. This exhibition showcases the sculptural one-off showpiece garments made for World of Wearable Art (WOW) by textile artist Susan Holmes who has made thousands of hand-dyed and printed garments. The exhibition finishes on November 5.
