Electricity prices in the wholesale spot market increased last week with price spikes during morning and evening peak demand periods driving up average prices.
Transmission constraints across the HVDC and central North Island also contributed to the higher prices.
South Island storage levels remain well above average for this time of year.
As a result, NZ index values rose by 19.81 per cent over the week to close on Saturday at 3.7435 c/kWh.
