Onehunga's Dress-Smart factory outlet centre was expanded this week with the opening of 15 new shops and more carparking.
The discount retail shopping centre now has 75 shops, after the addition of a $3 million, 1800sq m building on the southern end of the complex fronting Church St.
A further 130 car parks have also been added.
Mark Schiele, general manager of the Dress-Smart Group, said the centre attracted 1.6 million visitors a year and had increased its turnover from $25 million three years ago to $50 million in the year to September.
Retailers already in the centre had demanded more space and others said they wanted to be there, Mr Schiele said.
New names in the centre include Line 7, Esprit, Bobby's, Jacqui E, Newport Studio, Southern Exchange and Tie Rack.
Existing Dress-Smart retailers who wanted more space included Pumpkin Patch and Satori.
Barbara Holloway, of the Onehunga Business Association, said Dress-Smart had changed the perception of the area, which had undergone a "remarkable resurgence".
The centre, which started with only 20 stores in the old Three Guys supermarket, is half-owned by an AMP fund.
The other half is owned by shareholders, including Graeme Edwards and Nigel Powell.
