KEY POINTS:
The sharemarket weakened in early trading today as top stock Telecom fell 10c to 368.
The signal from Wall Street was mixed with blue chip stocks easing on new concerns about the finance sector but tech stocks ended higher.
The NZSX-50 benchmark index, which yesterday had a healthy 0.9 per cent gain on heavy turnover, was down 14.5 points to 3578 at 10.15am today.
No 2 stock Contact Energy was down 1c to 919 while Fletcher Building was unchanged.
Ebos, which earlier this year spurned a 520/share partial takeover, was up 9c to 480.
Mainfreight was up 4c to 664 while Steel & Tube was down 5c to 330.
Wood products company Tenon rose 5c to 90c while computer seller Renaissance rose 3c to 58.

In the US, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 24.34 points, or 0.19 per cent, to 12,825.02. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index slipped 2.16 points, or 0.16 per cent, to 1388.17 but the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 5.07 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 2408.04.
Both the Dow and the S&P 500 snapped a four-day winning streak.
