KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand sharemarket opened slightly higher today, after failing to fire on Friday when other markets had good days.
The benchmark NZSX-50 index was up 2.845 points at 4271.747. Brokers expect trading to be relatively quiet today because there are holidays in Australia today and holidays in Asia this week.
Sky City was up 3c at 525 after its shares jumped on Friday on news that a credible party was doing due diligence on the casino operator.
Telecom was down 1c at 446 and Fletcher Building was up 2c at 1271.
Port of Tauranga was up 9c at 679, while Infratil was up 6c at 303. Guinness Peat Group was down 2c at 194. Tenon was up 10c at 180.
The New Zealand market move came after US stocks dipped on Friday as money managers took profits on the last trading day of a strong September.
There was also some anxiety about corporate earnings in the future.
