The New Zealand dollar was dead in the water yesterday as fears of biological attacks continued to gnaw at sentiment, keeping investors out of the market.
"It was very quiet again today," said one local currency dealer. "We lost a little bit of ground."
At 5 pm the kiwi was at 41.77USc, unchanged from its 9 am level and down on Wednesday's 42.12USc close.
Its Australian counterpart was equally moribund, closing at 50.88USc (51.53USc late on Wednesday).
The kiwi strengthened slightly against the Australian dollar, closing at 82.14Ac, compared with 81.74Ac at Wednesday's close.
