IBM New Zealand achieved double-digit growth last year.
Revenue of $342 million defied a global trend in which the company's international revenue slipped 3 per cent for the year.
The result puts IBM New Zealand back on track after a dismal 2000 in which revenue slumped $28 million to $307 million.
The figures also put the company in the black for the second year in a row after four years that racked up about $100 million in losses.
It lost $29 million in 1999, but turned that around to make a profit of $16 million in 2000.
IBM would not say exactly how much profit it made last year, but its manager of communications and government relations, Laurie Edwards, said double-digit growth in profits had also been achieved.
New Zealand and Australia were the only markets in which IBM operated that had been authorised to reveal their revenue figures separately - indicating that they performed better than other regions.
IBM attributed part of its growth to large contracts sealed during the year with EDS, Air New Zealand, TVNZ, Sky TV, Public Trust and NZ Post.
