The Reserve Bank has left the Official Cash Rate unchanged at 6.50 per cent, as had been widely predicted by financial analysts.
ANZ Bank Chief Economist Bernard Hodgetts says what will be more significant is the economic statement from the Reserve Bank Governor.
He predicts a fairly cautionary tone, to try to prepare people for the possibility of a rise in interest rates at some stage.
The Reserve Bank said last December that rates might need to go up by around one per cent sometime this year.
Cash rate remains at 6.5 pc
