Wild vegetable creations and stunning flower arrangements were the order of the day yesterday when Bay youngsters got imaginative with the Tauranga Floral Art Group.
President Fay Edgecombe said it ran a children's competition that involved fruit and vegetable animals and sand saucers alongside its biennial Children's Day.
Members of the club set up various work stations for the kids to enjoy including tutorials on to how to make dream catchers and headbands with fresh flowers.
''It's a good way to introduce the kids to floral art, in a fun way,'' Mrs Edgecombe said.
''If they try it now then it may become a passion later in life.''
