An American billionaire and his private jet called into Tauranga yesterday.
The private jet belonging to Roger Penske landed at Tauranga Airport at 1.20pm yesterday.
Airport manager Ray Dumble said he could not reveal any details of who the plane belonged to or who was on it, but the Bay of Plenty Times understands Mr Penske himself was onboard the plane and made a flying visit to Tauranga. Mr Dumble said the jet had flown to Tauranga from Auckland and its next stop would be the Marshall Islands, before it flew back to America.
Mr Dumble said "a couple" of private jets would land in Tauranga each week.
It was usually just business people, he said.
