A Tauranga teenager hopes he can create a world record, with a mass dive bombing event.
Tauranga Boys' College student Louis Gordon is hoping to set the Guinness World Record for the most people doing a bomb into the water at Tauranga Bridge Marina.
There is no record for such an event but the 15-year-old said it was something he was hoping to create. Louis said he was trying to find a record which he could attempt to break, and after talking to people at the Guinness World Records, he found there was no record for the number of people doing a bomb into water.
He was told by the record keepers that for them to take the attempt seriously, he needed a minimum of 100 people to take part. "I don't really know why we decided to do this, I just thought it would be fun," he said.
Louis said he and his friends loved going to the wharf to do bombs. He liked his chances of creating the record, he said.
